Tempeh Masala Curry (High-Protein Indian Comfort Meal)
This Tempeh Masala Curry is the perfect Indian-style, protein-rich comfort food. The tempeh absorbs all the spices beautifully, giving you a flavourful, hearty curry that pairs well with rice, rotis, or millet chapatis.
⭐ Ingredients
For the curry base:
- 200g Mrs Bean Tempeh (cubed)
- 2 onions (finely chopped)
- 2 tomatoes (pureed or chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 green chilli (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- ½ cup water or coconut milk
⭐ Instructions
1. Sauté the tempeh
Heat oil in a pan, add the tempeh cubes, and cook until lightly golden. Set aside.
2. Prepare the masala
In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Sauté onions until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute. Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
3. Add spices
Mix in turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt.
4. Add tempeh
Add the sautéed tempeh cubes into the masala and mix well.
5. Add liquid
Add water or coconut milk and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
6. Finish
Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander. Serve warm.
